M1851 Navy
Tokyo Marui observes the 'Model Gun' market closely and as a result, it is releasing more and more legacy pistols. The new SAA. 45 Cavalry can certainly attest of this trend.
While model guns (see trivia section below) can't fire and are only designed to reproduce the features of a particular pistol, rifle or revolver, Tokyo Marui's upcoming M1851 Navy is obviously an airsoft revolver and a such fire 0.2g BB just like any other airsoft pistol.
What are model guns in Japan? In Japan, model guns are highly detailed, non-firing replicas of real firearms, designed to mimic the look, feel, and mechanical actions of the originals without the ability to fire. They replicate weight and markings precisely, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts in a country with strict firearm regulations. These safe, realistic replicas offer a legal alternative for firearm enthusiasts in Japan.
However, for this model, Tokyo Marui went above and beyond in terms of realism and operation. Let's see what sets this revolver apart.
Naval Battle Cylinder Scene: The engraved cylinder, depicting the 1843 Battle of Campeche between the Texan and Mexican navies, was a notable decorative feature that also served to prevent counterfeiting.
Loading Lever: The M1851 will reproduce the loading mechanism of the original weapon. This lever pushes the bullets inside the cylinder. It is also possible to load the BB's with using the lever.
Percussion cap: to further enhance the realism of the M1851, brass (non-exploding) percussion caps have been added. The M1851 sits between the flintlock and the modern revolver. Fulminate percussion caps were placed on the cylinder to fire the bullets (called balls). Tokyo Marui wanted to fully replicate this feature.
Naturally, this model will come with a hop-up mechanism to fine tune the shooting experience.
This is a single action air revolver without safety features, just like the real thing.
Firing is performed by cocking the hammer and depressing the trigger.
The M1851 uses complex mechanisms for which Tokyo Marui has filed patents. More details will be published as they a released.
Stay tuned for pricing reveal and pre-order information.
